The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) will require all large UK businesses to assess their energy consumption on a regular basis from 5 December 2014.
ESOS requires mandatory energy assessment and energy saving identification for all large undertakings and their corporate groups with 250+ employees or an annual turnover of €50m (approx. £40m) and an annual balance sheet of €43m (approx. £34m).
Obligated businesses will have to measure all energy consumption and determine areas of significant energy use (90% spend/use) whilst considering the implementation of systems and LEAD consultancy to ensure compliance and reporting to the Environment Agency.
